Fitness Background: Matt is something of an industry veteran. He gained his first fitness certification in 1988 after working as a part time gym instructor at a local Bodyworld Health Club. “I became fascinated with the art of working out, and realized that improved health and fitness were not the only benefits of a well structured exercise and diet program. People had more energy and sharper focus. They became calmer and more relaxed, enjoying greater self-confidence and increased self-esteem. These simple changes had a positive effect on every aspect of their lives. My career in personal training was born from a heartfelt desire to share this realization.”

At the time Matt entered the industry, the personal training profession was in its infancy in the UK. Matt therefore travelled to California to study firsthand the latest techniques used by personal trainers. Upon his return he worked with Mike Pratt, an internationally respected sports and athletics conditioning coach. Together they offered personal training services, set up Olympex to manufacture and supply gym equipment and collaborated on Healthysite.com. “I hand wrote over 300 programs for the site, with complete performance notes!” Matt has since established his own personal training company, Lazenby PT, which is the culmination of those years of experience. “Lazenby PT was set up with the simple aim of becoming firmly established as one of Edinburgh’s premier providers of bespoke personal training services.”

Specialities: Matt specializes in total body makeover fitness programs. These generally last for 12 weeks and are designed to achieve maximum visual results.
